Both Deceased Students Named in the Providence Campus Incident as Police Persist in Manhunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their shooter carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was second-in-command of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow on social media, remarking: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
