The distinguished UK star Helen Mirren, already recipient of an Oscar statuette, multiple Bafta awards, Globes trophies, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, will soon earn an additional esteemed prize to her collection: the DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, 80, formerly made a dame during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will receive the award at an event on 8 January, shortly before the primary Globes ceremony take place, within a ceremony promoted by the Golden Globes as Golden Eve.

This will also include the presentation of the Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for small-screen contributions, the honoree for which remains unannounced. Last year’s winners featured Viola Davis along with Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is truly exceptional,” said the organization’s president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and dedication to acting continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Career Highlights

Mirren gained prominence back in the 70s via important performances in theater in London’s theater district and with the RSC and in films such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her prominent part in the crime series Prime Suspect expanded her audience further. Other important films feature Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to back in 2013 within The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan regarding the encounters between the queen and prime minister the former PM, a role for which she earned a Tony back in 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• More recent films include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her performance in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and awards buzz is building around her performance as a terminally ill matriarch in Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, audiences will see Mirren in the role of Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations will be declared on 8 December, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
