Fast bowler Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems when he left the playing area on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler felt a problem in his hamstring post-delivery in his spell during the morning session.

Team management stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The concluding match of the tour beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was called up to provide backup.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the fourth Test in the playing XI.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 while batting as one of just three teammates who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

However, on the final ball of his spell, he sent down a variation to Travis Head and immediately felt his left hamstring.

Gus Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match after being left out the Adelaide game.
