Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
