Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
