The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry title that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose work have represented all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by featuring a new location and cast of characters in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone series. Every instalment is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of society through this multifaceted and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our common bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
